Bolivia Golden Dorado (Dates Incoming)
The Secure river is born in the confluence of the Nutusama and Cascarillas streams. Along its first sectors the river goes from north to south moreover, between the Mosetenes and the Eva Eva mountains. It’s one of the tributaries of the Mamoré river, which runs to the Madeira river, one of the main tributaries of the Amazon itself.
The Secure river here is extremely beautiful with crystal clear waters, wedged among mountains and pristine jungle. This fishery allows anglers an extremely close and exciting contact with the jungle. The means of transportation are handmade Chiman wood dugout canoes (cuambas) powered by pushing poles or engines, but the fishing is 100% wet wading, with many chances for sight casting. On the higher Sécure section there are dorado over 30 pounds, many of them residents. There are also a lot of pacu, moturo, surubi and yatorana, which are excellent species for practicing different fishing techniques. Upstream from the lodge, there’s two small tributaries (The Ashahana and the Maniquicito creeks) which hold really big dorado in tiny crystal clear waters.
The middle sector of the Sécure River runs downstream from the Lodge to the Ushwea Village. This section of the river is shallow and open, with sand flats and log structures, similar to the rivers further down on the plain regions. Its clear waters gradually becomes sandy due to tributaries that sweep sediments from the high plateau. The logs, sunken trees and subsurface structure are the perfect ambush points for a large number of dorado.

White River Arkansas (October 2-6 2026)
Some of the best places to fish are sometimes overlooked depending on where you are from. The White River in Arkansas is one of those places. Destinations Fly Fish is proud to partner with the White River Trout Club for some down south trout fishing.
The WRTC is located in Flippin Arkansas right on the banks of the White River. Located below Bull Shoals Dam, The White River and its tributary, the Norfork River, form a renowned trout fishing destination in Arkansas, offering rich fishing experiences thanks to their unique geographical and hydrological characteristics.
The Bull Shoals Dam creates a nearly 100-mile stretch of cold water that is ideal for trout, making it one of the best trout fisheries in the region. The river remains cool, allowing trout to thrive even in southern sections of the river.
The Norfork River, though much shorter at about 5 miles in length, plays a huge roll in keeping the fishing going. When it flows into into the White River about 40 miles downstream from Bull Shoals, the Norfork supplies a nice shot of cold water to the White River to keep the trout fishing going for another 40 miles.
Both rivers have produced world class brown trout and provide varied fishing opportunities. I know we keep talking about the White River, but don’t think the Norfolk can’t hold its own having produced several record class brown trout over the years. Together, they make this region a dream destination for trout anglers, offering both diversity and quality fishing experiences.

Jurassic Lake (November 22-29 2025)
Some of us have heard the stories of Rainbow Trout approaching and exceeding 20 pounds! Jurassic Lake in the Patagonia region of Argentina is the place to make it happen. Jurassic Lake Lodge is a remote and exclusive lodge perched on the banks of Lago Strobel, A.K.A, Jurassic Lake.
Jurassic Lake is the primer destination for anglers seeking a world-class rainbow trout fishing experience. Located in the rugged Patagonian wilderness of Southern Argentina, this high-altitude desert lake is the most prolific rainbow trout fishery in the world.
The lake’s cold, deep waters are home to massive populations of scuds (small freshwater crustaceans) and other aquatic insects. This abundance of food supports rapid growth of the trout, with some reaching the 20 pound class in a relatively short period of time.
How do you like to fish?
Anglers can use streamers, dry flies, nymphs, and scud patterns, with floating lines being the most common choice. Occasionally, sinking lines or sink tips are effective too. Stripping a mouse, if the conditions are right, not out of the question. Sometimes, you can just cast at the trout you see cruising the shoreline in front of you.
The lake’s remoteness means minimal fishing pressure and little natural predation, creating ideal conditions for thriving trout populations.
